Opportunities

  • VACRAO College Day field trip at NRCC, Friday September 16. Field trip forms are available in guidance and are due September 9.
  • Virginia College Application Day, Tuesday, October 25. All seniors will have the opportunity to complete college applications, apply for the ACCE program and scholarships. The guidance office receives many fee waivers for college applications and MCPS will pay for two application fees that aren't covered through VCAW.
  • The Society of Women Engineers at the University of Virginia invites high schoolers to apply to our High School Visitation program on Saturday, October 15th, 2022. The program gives young women (cis and trans) and non-binary high school students a comprehensive look at engineering fields and UVA’s engineering curriculum through informative speakers and interactive design activities. The program is designed to benefit participants with all levels of engineering experience, but we particularly target those students who are not yet familiar with the field and may be interested in applying to engineering schools or pursuing a STEM career.

     

    To apply, students should complete the HSV Fall 2022 Application which can be found here.

  • Virginia College Application Day ~ Tuesday, October 25. Students have the opportunity to apply to colleges for free.

  • Virginia Space Coast Scholars for 10th Graders with at least a 2.7 GPA. Opportunity for students who are interested in studying the earth, atmosphere, and beyond.

  • Pathways Flight Academy ~ student must be at least 16 years old and have 3.0 GPA or better. Students have the chance to participate in a free, flight academy program.

  • BLAST ~ for current 9th graders who have a 2.5 GPA or better. Students will discover what a STEM career is like.

  • VASTs ~ for 11th & 12th grade students, students will learn about a broad range of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

  • VA Earth System Science Scholars ~ free transferable DE course that engages students in real-world investigations of the Earth and its systems.

  • Armenian Genocide Essay Contest ~ for students in grades 9 - 12, $1000
